I was dumped on April Fool's Day.
My partner made sure to preface the breakup speech by saying "This is not a joke." I'm very glad to know I could have been broken up with any other day of the week. The occasion was not dependent on a humorous holiday.
Have I been processing it? Eh.
I don't really know, to be honest.
In two weeks, I will send my first book to be published.
This is incredibly exciting for me, as the mythology project I have spent the past two years envisioning, researching, and fervently pitching to my instructors and peers will finally come to fruition. In the next thirty days, I will hold a book in my hands that was entirely created from the thoughts in my brain.
That's a bit insane.
I like to think eight-year-old Lesley would be pleased. There are plenty of horses in the book. And mummies.
As I sit here writing this I still have two pieces to finish for the book, one to even start, five to edit, five to format, an entire manuscript to compile, a front and back book cover to approve, chapter art to insert, social media posts to draft, promotional content to create and four sips of wine left to drink straight from the bottle seated beside me.
Update: We can cross that last item off the list.
I guess what I'm trying to get at is this; April has been a bit rough for me. But things are about to get a lot better.
Be sure to check out my site and social media posts over the next few weeks to find out more information about my upcoming book.
I'll leave you with a meme.
Cheers,
- Les
